Living in Finland, I see how people prepare themselves for difficult situations. These realities remind me that external circumstances can change at any moment.In challenging times, inner stability becomes essential. When an accident occurs, emergency workers arrive calmly and know exactly what to do. Their calmness allows them to help others effectively. I often ask myself whether I am equally calm within.Meditation strengthens this ability. Through connection with God and regular spiritual practice, I gain clarity and strength that help me respond wisely instead of reacting emotionally.Awareness Beyond Positive ThinkingPeople often speak about positive thinking, but awareness goes deeper. We can choose positive thoughts, yet hidden fears and impressions may still influence our behavior. Awareness helps us understand those deeper layers.Understanding Self-Love and EgoAnother important lesson has been understanding the difference between self-love and ego. Self-love is beneficial for everyone. It allows us to respect ourselves while also respecting others. Ego, however, is often hidden and difficult to recognize.Many times, ego appears only when it creates pain or conflict. Meditation acts like a mirror, allowing us to see ourselves more clearly.I believe unconditional love is a useful measure. If something is genuinely good for everyone, it comes from a pure place. If it benefits only one person while excluding others, it may be influenced by ego.Looking Beyond the ProblemA realization that has helped me greatly is understanding that the problem is often not the real problem. Usually, it is a symptom pointing toward something deeper.Instead of focusing endlessly on the difficulty, I try to understand what it is indicating. Meditation gives me the ability to look within and identify deeper causes behind my reactions, fears, and habits.There are times when we feel emotionally heavy without understanding why. Through silence, meditation, and reflection, that heaviness gradually begins to dissolve.The Freedom of Letting GoOne of the most liberating spiritual lessons is learning to let go of the need to control others. Every individual has a unique nature and journey.For years, I understood intellectually that I could only change myself. Living that understanding required practice. When I stopped expecting others to behave according to my preferences, I experienced greater peace.Letting go is liberating for both sides. It frees me from unnecessary expectations and allows others to be themselves.Finding Benefit in Every ExperienceWhat has kept me on this path for so many years is the experience of transformation. I have seen positive changes within myself.Today, I try to find benefit in every situation. Even painful experiences carry messages. Challenges encourage growth, difficulties build strength, and uncomfortable situations reveal lessons that might otherwise remain hidden.This perspective has helped me accept the story of my life. Whether circumstances appear pleasant or difficult, I try to learn from them. Understanding the Inner PrisonWhen we think about freedom, we often imagine external freedom—the ability to go where we want, do what we want, and live without restrictions. However, true freedom is an inner experience. If we speak about inner freedom, it implies that, in some way, we are trapped internally.I often use the metaphor of a prison cell to explain this. Imagine yourself locked inside a dark jail cell. You are surrounded by walls, restrained by handcuffs, and separated from the outside world by prison bars. You can see the daylight beyond the bars, but you cannot reach it.This image reflects the inner state of many people. While we may appear free externally, internally we are often trapped by limiting thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. In my understanding, this inner prison consists of three parts: the walls, the prison bars, and the handcuffs.The Walls of Our Old NarrativeThe first part of the prison is the walls. These walls represent the narrative we create about our lives.As we move through different situations and experiences, we continuously tell ourselves stories about what has happened. Unfortunately, these stories are often created from a disempowered perspective. If I think about a disagreement I had yesterday, I may replay the situation by focusing on what the other person did wrong. I may tell myself that they hurt me, offended me, or caused my unhappiness.Over time, this becomes the narrative of my life. Instead of seeing myself as powerful, I begin to see myself as a victim of circumstances and people. These stories become mental walls that confine me within a limited understanding of who I am.The problem is not the events themselves; it is the meaning I attach to them. When my narrative is based on blame, victimhood, or negativity, I create a prison around my own mind.The Prison Bars of Self-DoubtThe second part of the prison is the bars. The bars represent self-doubt.When someone is behind prison bars, they can still see the world outside. They can see opportunities, possibilities, and freedom. However, something prevents them from stepping into that world.Self-doubt functions in exactly the same way.Many people carry limiting beliefs such as, “I am not good enough,” “I cannot do this,” “I am too weak,” or “I will never succeed.” Most of these beliefs operate unconsciously. We may not even realize they are influencing our decisions.We often have dreams and aspirations, yet these inner beliefs prevent us from taking courageous action. Self-doubt stops us from trusting ourselves. It keeps us confined within our comfort zones and prevents us from reaching our full potential.These invisible bars can be more restrictive than any physical barrier.The Handcuffs of Worry and FearThe third part of the prison is the handcuffs. Spiritually, these handcuffs represent worries, stress, fear, and anxiety.When a person is handcuffed, their movement becomes restricted. Likewise, when the mind is burdened with worry and fear, it loses its natural freedom.Stress creates disturbances within the mind. Anxiety weakens our clarity and confidence. Fear limits our ability to make positive decisions. Instead of responding wisely to life's situations, we react from a state of insecurity.As these emotional burdens increase, they restrict our ability to express our original qualities of peace, happiness, and stability. We become trapped by our own mental and emotional patterns.Discovering the Key to FreedomThe good news is that every prison has a key.In Raja Yoga Meditation, the key is self-realization. The solution is not found in changing other people or controlling circumstances. The solution lies in transforming our understanding of who we truly are.Most of us have learned to define ourselves through external labels. We identify with our name, gender, culture, occupation, achievements, appearance, wealth, and social status. Raja Yoga refers to this as body consciousness.Experiencing True Inner FreedomInner freedom is not something that can be achieved by changing circumstances. It emerges through a shift in consciousness and a deeper understanding of our true spiritual identity.When we recognize ourselves as souls and practice soul consciousness, we gradually unlock the handcuffs of worry, remove the bars of self-doubt, and break through the walls of limiting narratives.This is the journey toward genuine freedom—a freedom that is not dependent on circumstances, people, or achievements.The walls of limiting narratives, the bars of self-doubt, and the handcuffs of worry all arise from body consciousness. As we shift towards soul consciousness through self-realization and Raja Yoga Meditation, these inner barriers gradually begin to dissolve. Inner Freedom: Unlocking the Prison Within

<h2>Discovering a New Identity</h2>I came into the knowledge of Rajyoga meditation when I was around 22 years old. Although I was young, I noticed that even small issues related to my body could make me nervous and disturb my peace of mind. Through Rajyoga meditation, I gradually discovered a new way of looking at myself and my life.One of the most important lessons I learned was that I am a soul, a spiritual being, and not this physical body. Before this realization, any discomfort in the body immediately affected my state of mind. However, when I started experiencing myself as a soul during meditation, my attitude changed completely. I understood that if there is a problem in the body, it does not mean there is a problem with me, the soul. This simple understanding brought great stability and inner peace.<h2>The Connection Between Thoughts and Health</h2>Another powerful realization was that my thoughts influence my body. Many people believe that their well-being depends only on external factors, but I learned that the quality of my thoughts also plays a significant role. Every thought carries energy, and that energy affects every part of the body. Once I understood this, I stopped blaming circumstances and began taking responsibility for my inner world.Rajyoga taught me that I am the creator of my thoughts. The mind is not something that works independently. I, the soul, create thoughts, and therefore I can choose what kind of thoughts I want to create. This understanding gave me a sense of empowerment.<h2>The Practice of “Check and Change”</h2>Of course, negative thoughts can sometimes arise because of old habits. The difference is that now I do not allow them to stay for long. Rajyoga meditation has taught me the practice of “Check and Change.” Whenever I notice a thought that creates sadness, anger, irritation, or self-doubt, I pause and check it. Then I consciously replace it with a better thought.For example, if I make a mistake, instead of criticizing myself, I remind myself that I am a good soul who is learning and improving. If someone behaves negatively towards me, instead of reacting immediately, I remind myself that negative thoughts will harm me first. This practice has helped me create new habits of thinking and has made my mind much more peaceful.I have also learned that many emotional problems begin when we accept negative emotions as normal. Today, stress, anger, jealousy, and irritation have become common in society. However, common does not mean natural. Our original nature is peace, love, and happiness. When we repeatedly create negative thoughts, we move away from these original qualities.<h2>Transforming Relationships Through Acceptance</h2>This understanding has greatly improved my relationships as well. When I first started following this spiritual path, I wanted my family members to understand and accept this knowledge. I tried to explain and convince them. Later, I realized that every person has their own journey and their own time for learning.From that moment, my relationships began to change. I stopped trying to prove that I was right. Instead, I focused on giving love, respect, and understanding. I learned that acceptance is one of the greatest gifts we can offer to others.Today, I understand that true love does not mean controlling people or imposing our opinions on them. It means respecting their freedom while continuing to support them with good wishes. Peace: Returning to the True Self

For many years, I did not realize how much of a battle was happening inside my own mind. From the outside, life may appear normal, but internally there can be fear, self-doubt, insecurity, grief, and emotional conflict constantly running through our thoughts.As a young child, I often looked at my appearance and felt unhappy with myself. I judged the way I looked and became deeply affected by external opinions and comparisons. Like many people, I had connected my identity completely with the physical body.Later, through studying Rajyoga meditation, I began to understand the difference between the soul and the body. I understood that the body is simply a costume, while the soul is the living being, the actor behind the role.This realization transformed my understanding of myself.Rajyoga taught me that every soul is originally pure, peaceful, loving, and valuable. The Supreme Soul, God, possesses these qualities in a perfect form, and every soul has the potential to experience them.<h2>Changing the Inner Dialogue</h2>One of the greatest struggles within human beings is the way we speak to ourselves. I noticed that the language I used internally was often harsh and critical. I would say things to myself that I would never say to another person.So I consciously started changing that inner conversation.I began reminding myself:<ul><li>“I am a pure soul.”</li><li>“I am peaceful.”</li><li>“I am valuable.”</li><li>“I am loved by God.”</li></ul>At first, another inner voice resisted these thoughts because negative beliefs had been repeated for many years. Grief, hurt, disappointment, fear, and sorrow can remain buried inside the subconscious mind for years.However, I learned that healing does not happen by constantly focusing on the pain. Healing happens by bringing light into consciousness.If a room becomes dark, we do not fight with the darkness. We simply bring light.In the same way, spiritual knowledge, God’s love, peace, silence, and soul consciousness become the light that gradually weakens painful memories.Whenever painful emotions arise, I try not to battle with them. Instead, I create moments of peace through meditation and connection with God. These peaceful experiences create new spiritual memories and new sanskars within the soul.With regular practice:<ul><li>The mind becomes calmer.</li><li>Emotional reactions reduce.</li><li>Fear loses its hold.</li><li>Self-respect increases.</li><li>Inner stability develops.</li></ul>The emotions may still come, but they no longer control the mind in the same way.<h2>A Direct Relationship With God</h2>One of the most important experiences in my spiritual journey has been developing a direct relationship with the Supreme Soul.I believe every soul must experience God personally. Spiritual teachings, religions, and traditions can guide us, but ultimately the connection must be direct and internal.When the soul reconnects with God, it experiences deep love, security, peace, and belonging. It feels like a lost child finally finding its way home.I always encourage people not to force themselves to believe anything blindly. Instead, explore spiritually for yourself. Create your own experiences through meditation, silence, and self-awareness.<h2>The Journey Requires Practice</h2>Inner healing does not happen in one day. Negative thoughts and emotional patterns may have been repeated for many years, so creating new spiritual habits requires patience and consistent effort.But every moment of soul consciousness strengthens the mind. Every experience of peace creates a new inner memory. Slowly, the light becomes stronger than the darkness.When we reconnect with our original qualities and experience God’s love directly, the inner battle begins to disappear. Settling the Inner Battle Through Soul Consciousness

Understanding the Distance from GodMany people believe that God is far beyond their reach—too high, too powerful, and too distant to connect with personally. In devotion, we often see ourselves as small and limited, while God is supreme and unreachable. This creates a feeling that a relationship with Him is not possible. However, I would like to offer a different perspective: even if God seems beyond our reach, we are never beyond His reach.My understanding began when I accepted that I am a spiritual being, a soul, beyond matter and eternal. When we recognize this, we can also understand that God is a spiritual being. This -shared nature makes a relationship possible—not physical, but deeply experiential.Relationships as ExperiencesTo explain this, consider the example of the sun. The sun is bright and powerful, and we cannot look at it directly. For many, this is how God feels. But when sunlight passes through a prism, it reveals many colors. Each color is distinct, yet all come from the same source. In the same way, God contains all relationships within His qualities. The relationship we experience depends on the lens we choose.Relationships are not just biological; they are based on feelings. You may have a sister, but not always feel that bond, while you may feel a sisterly connection with someone unrelated. This shows that relationships are experiences. Similarly, with God, we create the relationship through our thoughts and feelings.If I need guidance, I can see God as a teacher. If I seek comfort, I can experience Him as a mother or father. If I want companionship, I can relate to Him as a friend. The Supreme Soul offers all these qualities, and by focusing our minds, we experience the relationship we choose.Experiencing God in Daily LifeA common question is how to experience this when God does not respond physically. The answer lies in inner experience. When you express your thoughts sincerely, there is a subtle response—a feeling of being heard, accepted, and understood. It may not come as words but as clarity or peace.When facing problems, the mind is often full of confusion. In such moments, connection feels difficult. But when we step back and become silent, something changes. A new thought or solution may arise. This is how guidance comes—quietly and naturally.Not every decision needs to be immediate. Taking a moment of silence helps us become stable and clear. Sometimes, what seems urgent loses its intensity, and the right answer appears with time. Many situations resolve when we stop overthinking and allow clarity to emerge.&nbsp;Creating a Personal ConnectionSome people explore a more personal relationship with God, such as a friend or even a beloved. This is possible because the experience is created by us. Just as in human relationships, we can express love, gratitude, and care toward God. Even simple acts, like offering food with remembrance or spending time in His presence, help build that connection.When we give with sincerity, those feelings return to us as fulfillment. Over time, these experiences become natural and form a new way of thinking and being.In some traditions, people see themselves only as followers of God. While this view is respected, a true follower aims to become like the one they follow. A leader inspires followers to adopt their qualities. In the same way, following God means becoming peaceful, loving, and wise.Ultimately, the relationship with God is shaped by our awareness and intention. Whether we see Him as a guide, parent, friend, or more, the possibility exists within us. The key is to create the feeling, nurture it, and allow it to transform our inner world. In essence, the ability to experience different relationships with God lies within our own consciousness. The more we practice these feelings with sincerity and awareness, the more natural and real they become in our daily lives. Over time, this connection strengthens and begins to influence our thoughts, decisions, and interactions in a positive way.Therefore, rather than waiting for a physical response, it is important to focus on inner experience and consistency. Experiencing All Relationships with God

Beginning of My Spiritual JourneyI am doing absolutely fine, and I hope that my light is shining. Just before lunchtime today, a brother came up to me and said, “Brother, I am seeing a light.” That moment touched me deeply and reminded me of my long journey with the Brahma Kumaris. It has been 50 years of spiritual practice, and I consider myself blessed to have been influenced by divine souls like Dadi Prakashmani, whom we lovingly called Dadi Ma. She embodied power, humility, sincerity, compassion, purity, and divinity.My journey began as a teenager with a curiosity for yoga. At that time, I did not fully understand what yoga truly meant, but I felt drawn to it. I attended a few Hatha yoga sessions but soon realized that it was not what I was searching for. I had a strong inclination toward science, as I believe science requires logic and proof. This mindset influenced my spiritual search as well.Meeting the Source of KnowledgeIn 1979, I visited Madhuban and had the opportunity to meet BapDada through Dadi Gulzar. I knew nothing about the Brahma Kumaris at that time, yet that one glimpse changed my life. Since then, despite facing many trials and challenges, the power of that light has guided me forward.Learning Beyond TraditionOver the years, I have realized that many people follow religion as a tradition. While tradition has its place, it does not always prepare us to face life’s difficulties. After COVID, I observed a significant decline in attendance at places of worship. Many people lost faith after losing loved ones, despite their devotion. This shows that when faith is not based on understanding, it can weaken in challenging times.Apart from my journey with the Brahma Kumaris, I served for 30 years in the Inter-Religious Organization of Trinidad and Tobago, including eight years as president. Through this experience, I interacted closely with various religious communities. I realized that although paths may differ, the ultimate goal remains the same.Guidance from the DadisIn 1991, I spent five months in Madhuban and came to know Dadi Prakashmani more closely. She was deeply connected to the Murli, the daily spiritual message. I also developed a close connection with Dadi Janki, who guided many of us. Her recognition of my service remains a cherished memory.I attribute all my achievements to these senior souls who nurtured us. They drew their strength from Brahma Baba, who in turn received from Shiv Baba. This chain of spiritual power is what sustains us.Understanding the Light of KnowledgeI often share a simple story. A king used to give charity daily. One day, a beggar refused to accept it, saying he had realized that the king himself was begging from a higher source. From that day, the beggar decided to seek directly from that Supreme Source. This is what the light of knowledge teaches us—to connect directly with the Almighty.Experiences that Strengthened My FaithThroughout my life, I have seen how this spiritual knowledge impacts not only me but others as well. In 2014, I was invited by the Pope at the Vatican for a three-day visit. Despite my background in Hinduism and my association with the Brahma Kumaris, I experienced a shared spiritual understanding.I have also interacted with judges and leaders. In one instance, I shared the philosophy of karma with a senior judge, which helped him make a difficult decision. Similarly, during the 1990 coup in Trinidad and Tobago, a leader who had previously visited Madhuban drew strength from that experience during his captivity.Conclusion: Light as the Way ForwardIn all religions, God is remembered in different ways. For me, God is everything—mother, father, and friend. This realization creates a deeper connection with the Supreme.As I reflect on my journey, I can confidently say that knowledge is light. From my experience, the answer lies in practicing Rajyoga meditation with consistency and awareness.My Journey with RajyogaWhen I first learned Rajyoga meditation, I found it a little difficult. However, with regular practice, it gradually became natural. I always say that practice makes perfect, and consistency is the key. Before learning Rajyoga, I practiced devotion-based meditation where I would close my eyes, and often I would fall asleep. Rajyoga, however, is different. It is an open-eye meditation that keeps me aware and connected while remaining active.Understanding Rajyoga MeditationRajyoga is not just a meditation technique; it is a way of life. In this practice, I focus on a point of light and consciously avoid negative and wasteful thoughts. It trains the mind to remain stable and positive. The most important awareness I hold is "I am not this body; I am a soul.” This realization changes the way I think, act, and respond to situations in my daily life.The Power of Early Morning PracticeFor me, the most powerful time to meditate is early morning, during Brahma Muhurat. I usually wake up between 2:45 and 3:00 a.m., freshen up, and sit in silence. At this time, the world is quiet, and the mind is fresh. Whatever I absorb at this hour gets deeply imprinted in my mind. As soon as I wake up, I remind myself of my true identity as a soul.I compare this to feeding the body. Just as we nourish our body with food and water, early morning meditation is like feeding the soul with spiritual energy.Practicing Open-Eye MeditationMany people ask me how to meditate with open eyes in such a negative world. My answer is simple: the focus is not on the external environment but on inner awareness. I see myself as a point of light—a soul—and I focus on a point of light.Wherever I am, whether at home or at work, I can practice this connection. I remind myself that every human being is also a soul, and then I connect with the Supreme Being, the Supreme Soul. Every one or two hours, I stop for a moment, sit quietly, and reconnect with the Supreme. Even in a busy schedule, this is possible. These small breaks help me maintain balance and stability. Is it what I am making others feel? Slowly, I started taking on other people’s perceptions as my own identity. It felt like I was absorbing their opinions and turning them into my character.This created self-doubt. I began to question, “Is this who I really am? Why would someone say this otherwise?” That confusion became the starting point of my inner journey.<h3>Beginning the Meditation Journey</h3>It was during this phase of questioning that I turned towards meditation. I needed answers—not from the outside world, but from within. Meditation became a space where I could sit with my thoughts and try to understand what I was truly experiencing in real life. However, starting this journey was not easy.<h3>The Challenge of Finding Time</h3>One of the biggest challenges initially was finding time. I had a young child to take care of, along with household responsibilities. Managing everything while trying to sit for meditation felt overwhelming.But I realized something important: if we start finding time, we eventually get time.
