Finding the Self WithinFor me, meditation is a way to find ourselves within. Normally, we begin to identify ourselves with the body, thinking, “I am a boy” or “I am a girl.” We also identify with the many roles and situations happening in our lives, whether they are good or difficult. Because everything around us keeps changing, when we depend on these changing circumstances, we also begin to fluctuate emotionally.Meditation helps us first to accept whatever is happening. There may be problems, worries, nervousness, anxiety or stress. Instead of fighting or trying to control everything, we can simply accept, “Yes, I feel stressed today,” or “I feel anxious because I have an important meeting.” When we accept the situation or emotion instead of fighting it, its influence begins to reduce.Then we can move towards a healthier inner space. Through meditation, we begin to experience that we are different from the body and from what is happening outside. We become a detached observer while remaining loving and compassionate, first towards ourselves. We accept what has happened and gradually move towards the healthier place within—the soul.Remaining Detached from ResultsWhen we become over-identified with external things, our inner state becomes dependent on them. It could be money, property, a person, a family relationship, or any other possession. When we are attached to something, whatever happens to that person or situation begins to affect our own state of mind.This is why self-awareness is so important. In our work, for example, it is good to have a vision, an intention, and a purpose. The difficulty begins when we become attached to the result. Sometimes we achieve what we desire and sometimes we do not. If our happiness depends on the result, our state will constantly go up and down with circumstances.Instead, we can focus on the present moment. We can say, “It would be wonderful if I achieved this, but what matters is what I am doing now.” Being present, aware, happy, and connected with virtues allows us to give our best without creating unnecessary anxiety.I have seen this principle even in sports. When a player becomes too focused on winning, worry and pressure can affect performance. But when a player remains in the present and simply does the best in that moment, the quality of the performance changes. We can see how the body reflects the state of the mind. The same principle can be applied to our work and daily life.Experiencing the Qualities of the SoulThrough RajYoga meditation, we begin to experience our natural nature. The soul experiences peace, purity, love, compassion, and truth. Purity means being integrated with our real self rather than our ego. Love and compassion allow us to have good wishes for everyone without constantly judging whether we like or dislike someone.I like to think of this as an ocean. The ocean gives and does not wait for anything in return. It accepts everything that comes into it. In the same way, we can develop an inner state where we remain peaceful and giving.When we have fewer thoughts, feel more relaxed in the body, and experience greater calmness within, it is an indication that we are moving towards a healthier awareness. On the other hand, when our muscles become tense, we feel aggressive, or our mind is filled with too many thoughts, it shows that our internal environment needs attention.Ending the Day with Good WishesBefore sleeping, I find it helpful to check how the day was. Was I living from virtues or from stress? I can look at situations that disturbed me and understand what happened and why I felt that way. Perhaps I had an unhealthy thought or was trying to get something from outside.Then I can move from outside to inside, have compassion for myself, return to peace, and prepare to respond with greater virtue the next day. I also like to end meditation with good wishes and good feelings for the next day.Many people have told me that after practicing meditation before sleep, they are able to sleep more easily and sleep better. They also feel more energetic when they wake up.When the last thought before sleeping is peaceful and positive, the first thought in the morning can also become aligned with it. Morning meditation can then become more powerful. Finding Direction Through SpiritualityFor me, spirituality first gave a powerful answer about the direction in which I wanted my life to go. I had many choices, but not enough wisdom to make them. Today, many choices without wisdom become a source of stress. Spirituality showed me what I needed to do for myself and what I could contribute to the bigger world around me. It answered questions I had not articulated and changed my life.Understanding SpiritualityWhen I connect the word spirituality back to spirit, it gives me a guideline. For me, spirituality means coming to a different consciousness about my identity. I am not just my physical identity; I am also an invisible inner being.Spirituality answers the eternal questions human beings have about life and beyond life. Is there a creator? Does that creator have a relationship with us? What is the purpose of this planet, and why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing here? It answers my personal questions and those about the bigger picture, bringing a different attitude and awareness.The Inner CompassI find it fascinating that I have a compass within myself that can point me in the right direction. My conscience can be that compass and coach. But our conscience has been influenced by many layers, so it is not always clear. Even when it tells me what is right or wrong, my thoughts, feelings and emotions can become so strong that I do not follow it.Spirituality means awakening consciousness and becoming aware of the inner being. Through silence, meditation and connection with the creator, I receive power and purity. My conscience becomes stronger and can guide me in the right direction. Meditation gives me the inner power to remain stable.Meditation Is More Than RelaxationMeditation certainly brings relaxation because, when I relax the mind, I learn to deal with my thoughts, and the stress within me can be resolved. But relaxation is not the purpose of meditation.Meditation is discovering what is happening inside my inner world and learning to channel my thoughts in a direction of my choice. It means turning the mind inward and focusing my thoughts to connect with the Supreme. Through that connection, I receive love, purity, peace, and power. Even a few minutes of meditation every day can generate positive feelings and emotions. After meditation, I can change.Transformation Begins With MeWhen I discover spirituality and the power of silence, I experience the treasures I carry within myself and become willing to share them through my life and behavior. One person's transformation influences many.I remember an inspirational story about leaders at Harvard who played a game in which groups were asked to create a city and contribute money for the common good. An actor was placed at one table and instructed to give a large amount. The others were inspired. As they changed tables, they influenced others, and finally the actor had impacted 125 people. One act of kindness can have a bigger impact.I can ask myself: Can I give my time? Can I offer kind words? Can I give a smile? Is there a small act of goodness, kindness, or compassion that I can share? These actions contribute to the world.Being the ChangeWhen I begin my spiritual journey, people around me may not immediately be interested. But they are watching the changes I make. They may not listen to what I say, but they observe my behavior. If they see more kindness and love in me, that transformation can inspire them.There is a story of a little boy who was given a jigsaw puzzle showing the map of the world. He completed it quickly because, on the other side, there was a picture of a human being. Once the human being was put right, the world was put right too. When I change, the world changes.My awareness leads to my attitude, my attitude leads to my vision, my vision leads to my actions, my actions lead to the culture we create, and that culture creates the world. Change can begin with one individual and a committed group. Spirituality brings change within and change without. When I transform myself, I contribute to the transformation of the world around me. Many people in the world still don't know the word or reject the word, but the change is slowly, slowly happening. For more than four decades, Rajyoga meditation has been the foundation of my life. When people hear that I have practiced meditation for 41 years, they often wonder how someone can stay committed for so long. The truth is, it has never felt like a burden. Instead, it has been an enriching journey of continuously discovering myself and understanding the world more deeply.The Search That Began EarlyMy spiritual journey began when I was very young. Growing up in France, I often questioned the meaning of life. Many people believed that we are born, live for some years, and then everything ends. But I could never accept that such intelligent and sophisticated human beings existed without a deeper purpose.I searched through many books, hoping to find answers, but every time I felt something was still missing. Then one day, I came across a Brahma Kumaris exhibition in Paris. I was not particularly interested in yoga, but during a conversation with a Raj Yogi, I noticed a beautiful light in his eyes. That experience inspired me to attend the seven-day Rajyoga course. It answered the questions I had carried within me for years.Mastering Time Instead of Fighting ItOne of the biggest reasons people feel mentally and emotionally drained today is their relationship with time. We often hear ourselves saying, "I don't have time."The reality is that time becomes what we make of it. When we truly value our time, we begin to prioritize wisely. We recognize which tasks are essential, which can be delegated, and which are unnecessary. Time then becomes our greatest friend instead of our greatest enemy.Another challenge is the culture of immediacy. Emails, phone calls, messages, and endless information demand instant responses. This constant pressure leaves very little space for reflection. When we react too quickly, we often regret our decisions. Reflection requires stillness, and meditation creates that space.Living in the PresentA peaceful life begins by living in the present moment. We often remain trapped either in memories of the past or worries about the future. Yet every moment of the present is valuable if we learn to appreciate it fully.Past experiences may leave emotional wounds, but we always have a choice. We can either build walls around ourselves or learn from those experiences. Rather than allowing painful memories to define our future, we can recognize the strengths and qualities that helped us overcome them. Those inner qualities become the foundation for a meaningful life.Meditation Through Everyday LivingFor me, spirituality and work were never separate. I have always believed that I have only one life, not two different lives—one spiritual and one professional.Whether I was conducting seminars, working in demanding environments, or serving in highly stressful situations, I tried to remain in the same peaceful consciousness. Before beginning work, I would arrive a little earlier and spend a few quiet minutes creating a peaceful atmosphere through my thoughts and vibrations.I never tried to impose meditation on anyone. My aim was simply to share peace silently through my own way of being. Often, people who were initially reluctant gradually became open and happy, not because of words, but because of the atmosphere they experienced.Becoming the ChangeLife constantly presents stressful situations and difficult people. Instead of reacting to every situation, I learned to remain calm and not take negativity personally. Peace is not something we practice only during meditation; it is something we carry into every interaction.Meditation is not about escaping the world. It is about living in the world with a stable mind, a peaceful heart, and a positive presence. When we focus on transforming ourselves instead of changing others, our thoughts, vibrations, and actions naturally influence the environment around us.We all have one life. The question is not whether we have time for peace, but whether we choose to make peace the way we live every moment.Every peaceful thought we create becomes a silent contribution to the world around us. When we transform ourselves from within, we inspire others without even saying a single word. Every day offers a new opportunity to choose peace over pressure and awareness over reaction. When our inner state remains stable, even the most challenging situations become easier to handle. Lasting transformation begins not by changing the world around us but by changing the consciousness within us. When we consciously nurture peace within, our presence itself becomes a source of strength for others. Discovering My True IdentityOne of the greatest discoveries meditation has given me is the understanding of who I truly am. When I began experiencing myself as a soul, my entire perspective started to change. I no longer saw myself as merely the person reflected in the mirror. Race, ethnicity, gender, appearance and every other physical identity became roles that I play rather than who I truly am.This realization has a much deeper impact than we often imagine. Many of the divisions we see in the world arise because people strongly identify with these temporary labels. We become attached to our opinions, our appearance, our nationality or our social status, and these attachments create conflict. When we understand our true spiritual identity, we naturally begin to see ourselves in others and others in ourselves. That understanding changes the quality of our relationships.Transformation Beyond EducationPeople often ask me what impressed me most about this knowledge. My answer is that it is transformational rather than merely educational.Education teaches us methods, principles, facts and figures. It prepares us to earn a living and become skilled in different professions. All of that has its place, and we certainly need it.However, if we truly want to make a life, something more is required. Meditation helps us discover the qualities that already exist within us. It is not about becoming someone different; it is about appreciating who we have always been. Through this understanding, we begin to look at our values and experience peace, happiness and love from within instead of searching for them outside ourselves.Learning Without LimitsOne reason my spiritual journey has continued for so many years is that learning never comes to an end. Every time I meditate and study, I discover something I had never noticed before.There have been many occasions when I read the same spiritual lesson again after a few weeks and found an entirely new meaning in it. The words had not changed, but my intellect had matured. As our understanding deepens, we begin to appreciate truths that were always present but were previously beyond our awareness.Meditation also answered many of the questions I had been searching for throughout my life. Even more remarkable, it began answering questions that I did not even know I was asking. That experience made my relationship with God deeply personal. I found a Friend who is always available, always gives the right guidance and never judges or blames.Becoming the Gatekeeper of the IntellectMeditation has also taught me that I am responsible for what I allow into my intellect. We often fill our minds with unnecessary and wasteful information without realizing how much it influences our thoughts and feelings.One important change I made was stopping my habit of constantly watching the news. I realized that after experiencing peace during meditation, I was immediately filling my mind with disturbing headlines before beginning my day. Those impressions quietly shaped my thinking throughout the day.The intellect has tremendous ability, but we must choose carefully what we allow into it. We are the gatekeepers of our own minds. When we reduce waste and create space for elevated thoughts, our intellect functions with greater clarity and strength.Choosing What Shapes My MindOver time, I realized that transformation is not only about what I learn but also about what I choose to absorb every day. Much of what enters our intellect remains there and influences the quality of our thoughts. If we continuously fill our minds with waste, our ability to think clearly becomes limited. I learned that I have a choice. I can protect my intellect by becoming mindful of what I allow into it. The more carefully I make that choice, the more peaceful, stable and focused I become. Meditation has taught me that I am the gatekeeper of my own mind, and that awareness itself is deeply empowering.Opening the Door to the UnlimitedMeditation has shown me that transformation is an unlimited journey. Every step brings greater understanding, deeper awareness and a stronger connection with my true self and with God.When we know who we truly are and learn to protect the quality of our thoughts, we open the door to an unlimited source of wisdom, peace and inner strength. That, for me, is the true purpose of meditation.As my understanding continues to grow, I realize that this journey has no end. Every step of meditation reveals a deeper truth and a greater appreciation of who I really am. Less Is MoreWhen we speak about spiritual minimalism, a popular saying comes to mind: less is more. At first, it seems like a paradox. How can having less actually mean having more? Yet the principle becomes clear when we observe design, art, and even life itself. If there is too much of something, it loses its impact and is no longer appreciated.Imagine a stage with a single person standing in the spotlight. That individual naturally captures our attention. If forty people dressed alike suddenly fill the stage, the uniqueness of the individual disappears. Although there are more people, the impact of each one is reduced. The same principle applies to the way we live.In today's material world, we often measure success by accumulating more. We seek to benefit ourselves by acquiring possessions, yet we rarely pause to appreciate the quality of what we already have. Simplicity has its own beauty. There is a special charm in doing things thoughtfully and well, rather than simply surrounding ourselves with more.The Art of AppreciationThe word that best expresses spiritual minimalism is appreciation.A child may paint a simple picture for a mother or grandmother. Unfortunately, the art of appreciation has gradually been lost. When we fail to appreciate ourselves, that lack of appreciation extends into our relationships and eventually shapes the way we see the world. We begin to focus on what is missing rather than what is present.Moving Beyond the Deficit MindsetMany of us develop what I call a deficit mindset. We constantly search for the one thing we do not have.Suppose you invite sixteen friends for dinner and fifteen arrive. Throughout the evening, where does your mind keep returning? To the one person who did not come. Or imagine asking someone to buy ten items from the market, and they return with nine. Instead of appreciating the nine items they remembered, our attention immediately goes to the missing one.This pattern seems small, yet it becomes a habitual lens through which we view life. We remain dissatisfied because we continue searching for what is absent instead of valuing what is already here. Spiritual simplicity begins by appreciating what we have and cultivating an attitude of gratitude.Releasing AttachmentsOne practical way to live simply is to regularly review the possessions we keep. Looking through our wardrobe, bookshelf, or closet allows us to notice what we have not used for a long time.Every object occupies more than physical space. It also occupies a place in our memories and our mind. I often think of the story of Gulliver's Travels, where Gulliver awakens tied down, not by heavy ropes but by countless tiny threads. In the same way, our attachments may seem insignificant individually, yet together they hold us to the past.Many memories are precious, but if we remain attached to them, they prevent us from being fully present. Releasing unnecessary possessions is not about rejecting the past. It is about freeing ourselves to live lightly.Living from the Essence of the SelfWhen we live with less, we move more freely. What is light floats, while what is heavy sinks. Spiritually, we are meant to flow with life rather than remain burdened by excessive attachment to places, possessions, or even people.Some people seek security through physical objects and continue accumulating them because letting go feels uncomfortable. However, everything we possess will eventually come and go. What remains constant is who we are. When I understand who I truly am, I can let go of what I have without fear because my identity no longer depends upon my possessions.Freeing the MindMental baggage often reveals itself through repeated thoughts. Our attention keeps returning to fears, attractions, unfinished conversations, or painful memories. One way to release this burden is by rewriting the story.Meeting someone again with fresh understanding allows a new experience to replace the old one. Instead of repeating the same emotional pattern, we create a different response. In doing so, another thread of attachment is gently cut away.An important reminder that has always stayed with me is this: What you think of me is none of my business. Everyone sees the world through their own lens. My responsibility is not to control another person's opinion but to maintain good wishes and good feelings in my own heart.When I focus on fulfilling my responsibilities sincerely while keeping my inner world clean and free from negativity, I no longer become weighed down by the opinions or reactions of others. A Question Beyond DeathMany people ask whether death is the final sleep or whether life continues beyond the physical body. Across the world, different cultures and belief systems offer different answers. Some accept reincarnation, while others do not. Even among those who believe in reincarnation, there are different interpretations. Rather than relying only on belief, I believe it is valuable to examine what scientific research and spiritual understanding together reveal about this profound subject.Scientific Research on ReincarnationOne of the most significant scientific contributions to the study of reincarnation came from psychiatrist Dr. Ian Stevenson at the University of Virginia, USA. In 1957, a mother brought her four-year-old son because he repeatedly spoke about another life. She wanted him to stop making such claims. Instead of dismissing the case, Dr. Stevenson carefully documented everything the child remembered. Using those details, he located the family of the deceased individual the child described. After interviewing the family, examining records, and reviewing the post-mortem report, he found that more than forty statements made by the child accurately matched the life of the person.Encouraged by this remarkable case, Dr. Stevenson continued his research. During his lifetime, he investigated more than 3,000 naturally occurring cases from all five continents. These were not memories recovered through hypnosis or regression therapy but spontaneous recollections reported mainly by young children. His work led to the establishment of the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia. After his passing, Dr. Jim Tucker continued the research. Today, the department has documented around 24,000 cases and receives nearly 150 new cases every year.Physical Evidence Across LivesAmong the most fascinating findings is the relationship between injuries in one life and physical marks in the next. Dr. Stevenson documented many cases where children were born with birthmarks or birth defects corresponding to injuries suffered in the remembered previous life. Someone who died from a gunshot wound might be born with a circular scar at the same location. A child remembering a previous life in which fingers were lost in an accident could be born without those fingers. Another individual who remembered dying by hanging was born with an unusually narrow neck and required liquid food throughout life. One striking example involved a child who remembered being stabbed to death. The post-mortem report of the previous individual recorded twenty-seven stab wounds on the back, while the child was born with twenty-seven blood-red birthmarks in corresponding positions.Interestingly, none of the documented scientific cases describe human beings being reborn as animals. Instead, the evidence consistently points toward human reincarnation, although individuals may be reborn into different families, countries, religions, races, or genders.The Importance of Final ImpressionsFrom a spiritual perspective, these findings offer valuable insight into the nature of consciousness. What occupies the mind during the final moments of life appears to leave a lasting impression. Those impressions continue with the soul and influence future experiences. This understanding also provides a subtle explanation of the law of karma.Consider a person deeply attached to wealth who spends life believing everything belongs to him. At the moment of death, he cannot carry any possessions with him. His final experience becomes one of loss. The impression accompanying him is not abundance but deprivation, and such impressions may influence future circumstances.Living as a TrusteeSpiritual preparation cannot be postponed until the last few moments of life. The deepest impression at death is shaped not by a few final words but by the way one has lived.The healthiest attitude is to understand that we are trustees rather than owners. We temporarily use this body, relationships, possessions, and responsibilities, but none of them truly belong to us. Just as I may temporarily sit on a chair without believing it belongs to me, I can live in this world while recognising that I own nothing permanently. This awareness frees the soul from fear and attachment.ConclusionWhen we understand that we are simply passing through this world, we neither cling excessively nor suffer deeply when it is time to leave. We are not losing what was never ours. Instead, we carry forward only the quality of our consciousness. Positive thoughts, inner peace, contentment, and spiritual awareness become our true companions. Therefore, the greatest preparation for death is learning to live with detachment, responsibility, and inner fullness. Learning Through Daily ChallengesMeditation taught me that life itself becomes a classroom. Every day presents small tests. It may be losing a mobile phone, facing an inconvenience, or dealing with an unexpected situation. Instead of seeing these moments as problems, I try to see them as opportunities to check my inner state.The real question is simple: did I maintain my calm? If I remain peaceful in small situations, I become better prepared for larger challenges. Meditation helps me let go of old ideas and unnecessary attachments. By learning to let go, I remain connected to my loving, peaceful, and happy nature.Remaining Calm in an Uncertain WorldThe world is changing rapidly, and uncertainty seems to be everywhere. Living in Finland, I see how people prepare themselves for difficult situations. These realities remind me that external circumstances can change at any moment.In challenging times, inner stability becomes essential. When an accident occurs, emergency workers arrive calmly and know exactly what to do. Their calmness allows them to help others effectively. I often ask myself whether I am equally calm within.Meditation strengthens this ability. Awareness helps us understand those deeper layers.Understanding Self-Love and EgoAnother important lesson has been understanding the difference between self-love and ego. Self-love is beneficial for everyone. It allows us to respect ourselves while also respecting others. Ego, however, is often hidden and difficult to recognize.Many times, ego appears only when it creates pain or conflict. Meditation acts like a mirror, allowing us to see ourselves more clearly.I believe unconditional love is a useful measure. If something is genuinely good for everyone, it comes from a pure place. If it benefits only one person while excluding others, it may be influenced by ego.Looking Beyond the ProblemA realization that has helped me greatly is understanding that the problem is often not the real problem. Usually, it is a symptom pointing toward something deeper.Instead of focusing endlessly on the difficulty, I try to understand what it is indicating. Meditation gives me the ability to look within and identify deeper causes behind my reactions, fears, and habits.There are times when we feel emotionally heavy without understanding why. Through silence, meditation, and reflection, that heaviness gradually begins to dissolve.The Freedom of Letting GoOne of the most liberating spiritual lessons is learning to let go of the need to control others. Every individual has a unique nature and journey.For years, I understood intellectually that I could only change myself. Living that understanding required practice. When I stopped expecting others to behave according to my preferences, I experienced greater peace.Letting go is liberating for both sides. It frees me from unnecessary expectations and allows others to be themselves.Finding Benefit in Every ExperienceWhat has kept me on this path for so many years is the experience of transformation. I have seen positive changes within myself.Today, I try to find benefit in every situation. Even painful experiences carry messages. Challenges encourage growth, difficulties build strength, and uncomfortable situations reveal lessons that might otherwise remain hidden.This perspective has helped me accept the story of my life. Whether circumstances appear pleasant or difficult, I try to learn from them. Pain can become a messenger, and every experience can contribute to awakening.Meditation has taught me that adapting to change is not about controlling the world around us. It is about transforming ourselves from within. Understanding the Inner PrisonWhen we think about freedom, we often imagine external freedom—the ability to go where we want, do what we want, and live without restrictions. However, true freedom is an inner experience. If we speak about inner freedom, it implies that, in some way, we are trapped internally.I often use the metaphor of a prison cell to explain this. Imagine yourself locked inside a dark jail cell. You are surrounded by walls, restrained by handcuffs, and separated from the outside world by prison bars. You can see the daylight beyond the bars, but you cannot reach it.This image reflects the inner state of many people. While we may appear free externally, internally we are often trapped by limiting thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. In my understanding, this inner prison consists of three parts: the walls, the prison bars, and the handcuffs.The Walls of Our Old NarrativeThe first part of the prison is the walls. These walls represent the narrative we create about our lives.As we move through different situations and experiences, we continuously tell ourselves stories about what has happened. Unfortunately, these stories are often created from a disempowered perspective. If I think about a disagreement I had yesterday, I may replay the situation by focusing on what the other person did wrong. I may tell myself that they hurt me, offended me, or caused my unhappiness.Over time, this becomes the narrative of my life. Instead of seeing myself as powerful, I begin to see myself as a victim of circumstances and people. These stories become mental walls that confine me within a limited understanding of who I am.The problem is not the events themselves; it is the meaning I attach to them. When my narrative is based on blame, victimhood, or negativity, I create a prison around my own mind.The Prison Bars of Self-DoubtThe second part of the prison is the bars. The bars represent self-doubt.When someone is behind prison bars, they can still see the world outside. They can see opportunities, possibilities, and freedom. However, something prevents them from stepping into that world.Self-doubt functions in exactly the same way.Many people carry limiting beliefs such as, “I am not good enough,” “I cannot do this,” “I am too weak,” or “I will never succeed.” Most of these beliefs operate unconsciously. We may not even realize they are influencing our decisions.We often have dreams and aspirations, yet these inner beliefs prevent us from taking courageous action. Self-doubt stops us from trusting ourselves. It keeps us confined within our comfort zones and prevents us from reaching our full potential.These invisible bars can be more restrictive than any physical barrier.The Handcuffs of Worry and FearThe third part of the prison is the handcuffs. Spiritually, these handcuffs represent worries, stress, fear, and anxiety.When a person is handcuffed, their movement becomes restricted. Likewise, when the mind is burdened with worry and fear, it loses its natural freedom.Stress creates disturbances within the mind. Anxiety weakens our clarity and confidence. Fear limits our ability to make positive decisions. Instead of responding wisely to life's situations, we react from a state of insecurity.As these emotional burdens increase, they restrict our ability to express our original qualities of peace, happiness, and stability. We become trapped by our own mental and emotional patterns.Discovering the Key to FreedomThe good news is that every prison has a key.In Raja Yoga Meditation, the key is self-realization. The solution is not found in changing other people or controlling circumstances. The solution lies in transforming our understanding of who we truly are.Most of us have learned to define ourselves through external labels. We identify with our name, gender, culture, occupation, achievements, appearance, wealth, and social status. Raja Yoga refers to this as body consciousness.Experiencing True Inner FreedomInner freedom is not something that can be achieved by changing circumstances. It emerges through a shift in consciousness and a deeper understanding of our true spiritual identity.When we recognize ourselves as souls and practice soul consciousness, we gradually unlock the handcuffs of worry, remove the bars of self-doubt, and break through the walls of limiting narratives.This is the journey toward genuine freedom—a freedom that is not dependent on circumstances, people, or achievements.The walls of limiting narratives, the bars of self-doubt, and the handcuffs of worry all arise from body consciousness. As we shift towards soul consciousness through self-realization and Raja Yoga Meditation, these inner barriers gradually begin to dissolve. <h2>Discovering a New Identity</h2>I came into the knowledge of Rajyoga meditation when I was around 22 years old. Although I was young, I noticed that even small issues related to my body could make me nervous and disturb my peace of mind. Through Rajyoga meditation, I gradually discovered a new way of looking at myself and my life.One of the most important lessons I learned was that I am a soul, a spiritual being, and not this physical body. Before this realization, any discomfort in the body immediately affected my state of mind. However, when I started experiencing myself as a soul during meditation, my attitude changed completely. I understood that if there is a problem in the body, it does not mean there is a problem with me, the soul. This simple understanding brought great stability and inner peace.<h2>The Connection Between Thoughts and Health</h2>Another powerful realization was that my thoughts influence my body. Many people believe that their well-being depends only on external factors, but I learned that the quality of my thoughts also plays a significant role. Every thought carries energy, and that energy affects every part of the body. Once I understood this, I stopped blaming circumstances and began taking responsibility for my inner world.Rajyoga taught me that I am the creator of my thoughts. The mind is not something that works independently. I, the soul, create thoughts, and therefore I can choose what kind of thoughts I want to create. This understanding gave me a sense of empowerment.<h2>The Practice of “Check and Change”</h2>Of course, negative thoughts can sometimes arise because of old habits. The difference is that now I do not allow them to stay for long. Rajyoga meditation has taught me the practice of “Check and Change.” Whenever I notice a thought that creates sadness, anger, irritation, or self-doubt, I pause and check it. Then I consciously replace it with a better thought.For example, if I make a mistake, instead of criticizing myself, I remind myself that I am a good soul who is learning and improving. If someone behaves negatively towards me, instead of reacting immediately, I remind myself that negative thoughts will harm me first. This practice has helped me create new habits of thinking and has made my mind much more peaceful.I have also learned that many emotional problems begin when we accept negative emotions as normal. Today, stress, anger, jealousy, and irritation have become common in society. However, common does not mean natural. Our original nature is peace, love, and happiness. When we repeatedly create negative thoughts, we move away from these original qualities.<h2>Transforming Relationships Through Acceptance</h2>This understanding has greatly improved my relationships as well. When I first started following this spiritual path, I wanted my family members to understand and accept this knowledge. I tried to explain and convince them. Later, I realized that every person has their own journey and their own time for learning.From that moment, my relationships began to change. I stopped trying to prove that I was right. Instead, I focused on giving love, respect, and understanding. I learned that acceptance is one of the greatest gifts we can offer to others.Today, I understand that true love does not mean controlling people or imposing our opinions on them. It means respecting their freedom while continuing to support them with good wishes. When expectations decrease, relationships become lighter and more harmonious.<h2>A Way of Life</h2>My journey with Rajyoga meditation has taught me that a healthy life begins with healthy thoughts. When we understand ourselves as souls, take responsibility for our inner world, and consciously choose positive thoughts, we create greater peace within ourselves. That peace then influences our bodies, our relationships, and every aspect of our lives.For me, RajYoga is not only a meditation practice; it is a way of living that helps me remain peaceful, positive, and spiritually aware in every situation.When we transform our thoughts, we begin to transform our lives. As a child, I spent many precious hours with my grandmother in the Romanian countryside. She often shared beautiful stories about God and His special friendship with human beings. Those simple yet profound experiences awakened a spiritual curiosity within me and planted the seeds of a lifelong search for deeper meaning.<h2>A New Beginning in the United Kingdom</h2>Years later, life brought me from Romania to the United Kingdom. Like many people adapting to a new country, I faced the challenges of a different culture, language, and environment. Although I believed I was coping well, I was searching for something more meaningful without fully understanding what was missing.Everything changed when I attended a meditation session at Inner Space in Cambridge. During that first experience, I was guided into the awareness that I am a soul. I experienced a profound sense of peace, love, and inner stillness unlike anything I had known before. In those few moments, I realized that true happiness and peace come from within.<h2>The Greatest Challenge: Understanding the Self</h2>The biggest obstacle on my spiritual journey was not external. It was my own limited understanding. I had become deeply identified with my profession, achievements, responsibilities, and desires. My identity was based on what I did rather than who I truly was.Learning to see myself as a soul required patience, practice, and spiritual wisdom. Gradually, I understood that beneath every role and responsibility exists a peaceful and eternal being.<h2>The Power of Spiritual Company</h2>One of the most transformative aspects of my journey was the company of spiritually minded people. While attending meditation classes, I met individuals whose presence radiated peace and self-respect.One day, I had a realization that changed my life. I no longer wanted to become like them—I already was like them at my deepest level. Beneath all labels and roles, I too was a peaceful soul. This realization awakened a new sense of self-respect and transformed my outlook on life.<h2>Bringing Spirituality into the Workplace</h2>Alongside my spiritual practice, I worked as a software engineer in Cambridge for fourteen years. During periods of organizational change and uncertainty, meditation helped me remain calm and stable.A memorable moment occurred during a performance review when my manager said, “I don’t know what you are doing, but keep doing it because it is helping us.” He had noticed that colleagues often came to speak with me and left feeling lighter and more positive.This experience taught me that peaceful vibrations influence others in powerful ways. Even when people are not actively seeking spirituality, they can benefit from the presence of someone who is connected to inner peace.<h2>Why Peace Became My Greatest Motivation</h2>The greatest gift Raja Yoga has given me is peace. Throughout my life, I searched for fulfillment through education, career, relationships, and achievements. Anger does not originate from other people; it begins with the thoughts we repeatedly create. By becoming aware of these patterns, we gain the power to change them.Meditation helps us replace negative thoughts with understanding, compassion, and peace. Over time, new qualities begin to emerge naturally.<h2>Replacing Negative Habits with Positive Qualities</h2>Spiritual transformation is not about suppressing weaknesses; it is about strengthening virtues. As we develop qualities such as benevolence, mercy, patience, and compassion, negative habits gradually lose their influence.Wherever attention goes, energy flows. When we focus on our spiritual strengths, we empower them. This shift in awareness creates lasting and meaningful change.<h2>Rediscovering Our Original Nature</h2>My journey with Raja Yoga continues because it constantly reminds me of who I truly am.
