In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, two events were held in Taiwan, offering participants the opportunity to experience meditation, inner stillness, and holistic approaches to wellbeing. Organised by the Brahma Kumaris Taiwan team, the programs brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and created peaceful spaces for reflection, connection, and learning.
The first event, Stillness in the Heart; Tea in Stillness, was held on 8 March 2026 at the Da Dong Arts Centre in Kaohsiung and was co-organised by the Chinese Tea Industry Culture Research Association. The aim was to create an atmosphere of sweet silence for women and men of different ages and backgrounds. Echo Chang welcomed participants and introduced the Brahma Kumaris in Mandarin.
The program began with an “Om” chant led by Sr Pranita from Perth, Australia, accompanied by the resonant sound of a large singing bowl, helping participants settle into a calm and stable state of mind. Sr Morni then spoke on the benefits of cultivating a still heart, with translation provided by Ning Ju. Sr Morni shared that when the heart becomes still, we can listen more clearly to our inner voice and make accurate decisions. She then guided participants into a deep meditation, creating a powerful and serene atmosphere.
Participants were then led through an Ayurvedic energising finger-clapping activity before moving to an adjacent room, where five Tea Masters offered the finest Taiwanese teas. The tea ceremony, conducted in silence for nearly an hour, allowed participants to experience mindfulness through the sensory appreciation of traditional Taiwanese tea. The program concluded with Sr Preethi Rao, Coordinator of Brahma Kumaris Taiwan, based in Kaohsiung, offering sweets and blessing cards created by the Brahma Kumaris Centre in Perth. Although largely conducted in silence, the forty participants reported a strong sense of connection and bonding. They appreciated the nurturing, peaceful atmosphere.
A second gathering, Healthy Balance, was held on 13 March 2026 at the Indian Trade Office in Taipei and was organized by Sr Preethi Rao. The event combined meditation with the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda. Sr Preethi welcomed the guests and introduced the Brahma Kumaris. Although the organization has not had a regular presence in Taiwan since 2020, several cooperative friends and supporters helped attract twenty participants to the event.
As part of the program, Sr Morni spoke on the importance of balance, sharing the vision present at the founding of the Brahma Kumaris more than ninety years ago, to restore harmony between men and women in all areas of life. She also reflected on the need for personal balance between the head and the heart, lifestyle and diet, and emotions and thoughts, and guided participants through a meditation to experience inner equilibrium.
Sr Pranita Tamboli from Perth then introduced the basic principles of Ayurveda, explaining the three doshas, the five elements, and key concepts for maintaining balanced health. Participants were also offered a sample protein shake as a small taste of Ayurvedic nutrition. The event concluded with sweets and handmade blessing cards from the Brahma Kumaris Centre in Perth.
With the Brahma Kumaris Taiwan registration obtained in 2025, it was an honour to be hosted at both a Taiwanese government venue in Kaohsiung and an Indian government venue in Taipei. The events also highlighted the growing interest in holistic approaches to well-being and the shared principles between Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, both of which emphasize balance and natural healing.
Both gatherings were warmly received and created meaningful opportunities for participants to experience meditation, inner peace, and the value of a balanced and harmonious life. The positive response from attendees has encouraged the team to continue offering programs that support spiritual reflection, wellbeing, and deeper connection within the community.
