Dear Family,
Brother Garfield Stephen King was born on 2nd April 1954 in Trinidad. He died at 4 am on 23rd October 2026 at the Arima Hospital.

At a young age Br Garfield migrated to the UK with his parents. He met the Brahma Kumaris in the mid ‘70s in London and became a lifelong meditator. He was very active and serviceable to everyone who knew him. He visited Madhuban many times and used his skills and talents wherever he could to improve the lot of everyone.

At the beginning of the ‘80s he shifted to Trinidad to support the newly established BK family here. He was famous for his tall and dignified bearing and was always kind and attentive to everyone who met him. 

Br Garfield created a 5-minute radio program called ‘Discover Yourself Transform Your World,’ which ran for many years on 610 Radio. He scripted and directed many plays that were performed in villages and town halls up and down the country, including Queen’s Hall.

After a few years, he was asked to shift to Barbados to support and develop the BK organization there. He was instrumental in attracting many to practice meditation and improve their lifestyle. There also, he created a similar radio program called ‘Just A Minute,’ and authored several books, including two entitled 'Just a Minute'. For several years, these books were some of the easiest BK publications to give as gifts to the general public outside of India.

Br Garfield married in Barbados and after some time returned to Trinidad to live and work with his family. He and his late wife Barbara are survived by their two beautiful daughters, Melody and Serena and a new grandbaby.

In memory of Br Garfield, mediation and sharing are taking place daily from Monday 26 Oct to Friday 30th October, from 7 pm to 8 pm Trinidad time (which is the same as USA Eastern time) on Sr Hemlata’s zoom. The Zoom ID is 868 653 9642 and no passcode is required.
