The year started with many unexpected situations unfolding, giving way to opportunities for even more solidarity, compassion, and the urgency of embracing a unified consciousness. Most of the events and activities during the last three months revealed this and more. You are warmly invited to read news of the 63rd. Commission on Social Development (CSocD63), 69th. Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), International Day of Conscience, ECOSOC Youth Forum, Mother Earth Day, and more.
This year's 63rd. Session of the Commission on Social Development (CSocD63) was a build up towards the second World Summit on Social Development to be held in Qatar in November 2025. The Brahma Kumaris participated in the conference by submitting a written statement, published on the UN website (https://docs.un.org/en/E/CN.5/2025/NGO/51) and co-hosted an online panel discussion on “Inner Transformation for Global Sustainability: A Journey in Consciousness” on February 14, 2025. The conversation explored the power of Consciousness of individuals who work in the social development space. The Soul-Instrument-Trustee (S.I.T.) Consciousness experiment introduces how new consciousness shape awareness, vision, attitudes and actions. Read more. This experiment is now being piloted by a number of organizations.
The United Nations hosts the world’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment—the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)—every March at its New York headquarters. CSW amplifies women's voices worldwide and helps shape global standards for gender equality and empowerment. The Brahma Kumaris have been actively involved in the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) since 2007. This year in 2025, the BK delegation, Julia Grindon-Welch (USA), Marianne Lizana (Costa Rica), Nalishha Mehta (USA), Pratiba Daya (South Africa), and Sabita Geer (USA), co-hosted a parallel event, three community events, and participated in many workshops and panels discussions organized by UN Agencies and NGOs. The Brahma Kumaris (BK) co-organized a side event with the Unitive Cluster, a member of UN NGO Major Groups with a theme of "The Role of Conscience in Global Affairs" in New York. The BK UN representatives in Vienna participated in the World Leader Summit of Love and Peace at the UNHQ in Vienna. Read more here.
The Brahma Kumaris participated in the annual ECOSOC Youth Forum which took place at the UNHQ, NYC from April 15-18, 2025. Please read news about two events:
• Intergenerational Approaches to SDGS: Research Evidence for Policy Integration: Reflections from the Intergenerational Dialogue & Inquiry (IDI), a UNESCO Collective Healing Initiative, where BK Gayatri Naraine, Main representative of the Brahma Kumaris at the UN, was a respondent.
• The Bridge between Science and the Culture of Peace, Hosted by Pathways to Peace & the UN NGO Major Group Unitive Cluster.

International Mother Earth Day: Apr. 22
Brahma Kumaris worldwide celebrated Earth Day by planting trees, holding dialogues to remind the world of our interconnectedness and to renew our commitment to Mother Earth, and hosting meditations to share positive energy of love, respect, and gratitude with Mother Nature. Read more here.
Ongoing at the BK UN Office
Despite everyone’s busy schedules, weekly one hour conversations and meditations continue with our UN community. These meditation sessions are focused on current themes of the UN including international days, as we pay attention to empowering ourselves and sharing peace, love, compassion and hope with the world. Additionally, there is weekly meditation and spiritual conversation for regular students of the Brahma Kumaris.
The BKUN team continues to attend regular committee meetings - NGO Committee on Spirituality, Values, and Global Concerns-NY; Committee of Religious NGOs; Unitive Cluster; Coalition of Faith-based Organizations, and International Day of Yoga Committee at the UN - as well as co-organize events with civil society organizations.
In celebration of the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Brahma Kumaris partnered with Learn Lead Serve, Inc. to organize their 28th Annual Seasonal Intergenerational Cross-Cultural Historic Educational Event. The celebration also commemorated the 60th. anniversary of the historic “Selma to Montgomery March” with feature address by Civil Rights Movement icon, Lynda Blackmon Lowery. Read more.
