I have known Ratanbhai and Ratnaben for over 40 years. I always admired Ratanbhai's breadth of understanding of BK knowledge and also worldly affairs.  When the project of building Global Co-operation House began, Ratanbhai used to come to Tennyson Road (where I was staying) for breakfast.  Over breakfast together we used to discuss gyan and also current affairs and I was happy to be with someone who kept up with the news as I always try to do.  He understood politics, economics and social aspects.  He also told me many things about India and also the depth of dharna.  He always practised what he spoke of.  He was very disciplined and accurate in all four subjects.  He became Chair of the Board of Trustees of Brahma Kumaris UK and so there were many things I had to discuss with him in the course of Baba's work.  We did disagree at times but there was never any bad feeling between us - he took it all in his stride and I learned from him that the most important thing was yoga, rather than arguing a particular point of view.  He has a very deep faith in Baba and that was what made him successful and victorious, no matter what the challenge may be.  I am grateful for all he stood for in life as a human being and as Baba's child. It was a testament to his good karma that he flew away so easily.  Baba was in his heart and mind always and so it did not take him long to answer Baba's call.  Thank you Ratanbhai.

A Personal Tribute to Ratanbhai from Sanjay: As I reflect on my time with Ratanbhai for 35 years, I am filled with both profound gratitude and a feeling of what a pioneer he was.     
     Ratanbhai was not just a mentor, but a friend, a guide, and someone whose wisdom and kindness will continue to resonate with me for the rest of my life. One of the most touching gestures I remember was when Ratanbhai sent me a toli from Madhuban when I was not yet with Baba. At a time when I did not know Baba, that simple act of love and thoughtfulness brought me closer to Baba and reminded me that even from afar, Ratanbhai was there, guiding and supporting me in his own quiet way. That toli wasn’t just a sweet; it was a message of love, a reminder that Baba’s care and Ratanbhai’s hands were always protecting me.     
     Another factor that stands out is Ratanbhai’s pivotal role in the acquisition of properties on behalf of Brahma Kumaris UK. His work behind the scenes, negotiating and acquiring these essential assets, was nothing short of remarkable. His ability to manage such complex tasks with dedication, integrity, and foresight always left me in awe. His professionalism and deep commitment to the values of Brahma Kumaris were evident in every project he undertook, and I had the privilege to witness firsthand the care and diligence he put into ensuring that each property would serve the greater good of the organisation.     
     Ratanbhai also played a significant role in teaching me how to balance trusteeship—both from a legal standpoint and with Baba’s wishes in mind. His wisdom in guiding me through the complexities of governance, while maintaining the purest spiritual intentions, was invaluable. He showed me how to keep Baba’s vision at the forefront, while still respecting the legal frameworks that governed our work. His teachings in this regard have remained with me and continue to influence how I approach my responsibilities today.     
     But perhaps one of the most beautiful aspects of Ratanbhai was his deep love for both the spiritual and his own family. He always spoke with such warmth and pride about those he loved, and it was clear that the family was a constant source of strength and inspiration for him. Whether in his actions or his words, Ratanbhai always showed how much he valued those closest to him. His love for his family was a testament to the depth of his character, and it was inspiring to see how he was able to balance his spiritual commitments with his devotion to his loved ones.     
     You will always be missed, but your legacy lives on in the work you did, in the wisdom you imparted, and in the love you gave so freely to everyone around you. May the soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that you have left an indelible mark on all of us.

Ratanbhai's outstanding quality was his faith - in himself as an instrument for God's task. There were times when this enabled him to move mountains, making possible the impossible. I remember in particular the role he played in establishing The Lighthouse Retreat Centre in Worthing. The local planning officer and councilors were reluctant to give permission for two (later, three) seafront houses to be converted into a centre, but Ratanbhai badgered them so persistently that eventually they gave provisional approval. Years later, when the Mayor of Worthing came to a programme there, he told us how glad the council was that the decision went that way, as the centre was now highly valued as one of Worthing's 'hidden jewels'.
