Om shanti and greetings of love. Brahma Kumaris in Houston, Texas celebrated International Day of Yoga 2024 at several programs in cooperation with the Consulate General of India, Houston. Brahma Kumaris was invited to conduct the Dhyāna (meditation) portion of the Common Yoga Protocol at three public events in Houston, Texas, USA. Brother Mark conducted the dhyāna portion of IDY yoga protocol in all events.
Summary:
1. Discovery Green City Park: 300 participants of diverse backgrounds came together to celebrate the International Day of Yoga. Several Consuls from the Consulate General of India and staff participated in the event. Brahma Kumaris conducted the dhyāna portion of IDY yoga protocol. . The audience experienced Raja Yoga Meditation. Many participants expressed feelings of happiness to experience yoga beyond the body, deep peace and bliss.
2. India House, Houston: 200 participants. The Consulate General of India, along with the entire Consular team participated in the event. Brahma Kumaris conducted the dhyāna portion of the IDY yoga protocol.
3. Pearland Pavilion: 100 participants. City Mayor Cole participated in the event. Mayor Cole presented a Proclamation to recognize June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. Brahma Kumaris conducted the dhyāna portion of the IDY yoga protocol. The audience experienced complete silence through meditation commentary.
4. Teacher Award: Mr. D. C. Manjunath, Consul General of India, Houston presented an award to bro. Mark for outstanding service to the science of yoga on the occasion of 10th Annual International Day of Yoga. Twelve yoga teachers of various yoga styles were selected for the award from a pool of thousands of yoga teachers.
**This year's IDY events stand out because all the hatha yoga teachers used the phrase "you are not a body" during the IDY protocol. This was inspired by the Raja Yoga Meditation commentary (dhyana) they have heard during the past five years of IDY events.
5. Brahma Kumaris sponsored a booth at “Liberty Fest”, celebrating America’s 248th Independence Day from the British. Thousands of festival visitors received an invitation to learn Raja Yoga Meditation. Also seen are Houston Police Mounted Patrol, “Texas cowboy style” on horses.
