Charles Hogg, National Coordinator, Brahma Kumaris Australia

Charlie grew up in Melbourne and began studies in architecture at Melbourne University before his lifelong interest in spirituality and philosophy urged him to travel overland over three years through Asia, to the Middle East and Europe. During this time he lived in a variety of communities including Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, and Taoist. In 1975, Charlie learnt meditation with the Brahma Kumaris (BK) in London. In 1977, he opened a BK centre in Collingwood, Melbourne. In 1980, Charlie moved to Sydney and became the National Coordinator for the Brahma Kumaris Australia.

There are now 40 Brahma Kumaris’ centres in Australia including three Retreat centres; one on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne (opened 1996); one south of Sydney near Wollongong (opened 1999), and a third in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney (opened 2001).

Having practiced meditation over the past 40 years, Charlie is internationally a much sought-after meditation teacher, speaker and retreat leader and his journey has taken him to 80 countries. From experience, he knows that meditation is an extraordinary tool to maintain mental, emotional and spiritual health in an increasingly challenging world.

Charlie has also been the National Director for a number of international projects such as the Million Minutes of Peace Appeal (1986), Global Cooperation for a Better World (1988) and since 1996 has been the Coordinator of Peace of Mind – an increasingly popular annual international meditation retreat in India.
