Spiritual strength includes the courage to forgive when it is easier to hate.

Spiritual strength is sometimes misunderstood, especially when we confuse it with detachment, hardness, or dominance. True spiritual strength is not about being cold or emotionally tough — it is a quiet, steady inner resilience rooted in wisdom, compassion, and clarity. When we are spiritually strong, our mind and heart are rooted in integrity, but they are also open. We are compassionate, but not naive, and we have deep feelings but are not overwhelmed by them.

In today’s world, those with spiritual power are often overlooked, and strong personalities shine as role models because of their visible confidence, decisiveness, and ability to succeed in competitive environments. People gravitate toward them as they project strength, certainty, and success. Whether in business, sports, or politics, strong personalities are often seen as winners because they take bold actions and make things happen. Such people also rise to leadership positions, as they exude the spirit and determination needed to lead others.

However, while strong personalities can make an impact, they do not necessarily represent the most balanced or holistic way of living.

Much of the material world revolves around ego — self-promotion, competition, and gaining recognition. Those who are outspoken, charismatic, and willing to take risks often get noticed more than those who may be quietly working on their inner growth or spiritual pursuits. In a milieu that prioritises results, whether it is money, power, or fame, outward success is often seen as the ultimate measure of a person’s value. Spiritual strength does not fit well into this world of outward displays. It is harder to quantify and is not always immediately rewarded. But it is just as powerful, albeit in subtler ways. Spiritual power brings long-term internal growth, and while it may not be always visible, it can deeply influence the way we live our life, touch others, and make a difference over time.

Being spiritually strong means having the mental, emotional, and moral fortitude to face life’s challenges with grace, compassion, and faith. One of the clearest ways in which spiritual strength manifests itself is inner peace. Trust in a higher plan and knowing how to manage one’s emotions without being consumed by stress, anxiety, or anger, enables a spiritually strong person to remain calm even in the face of hardship.

Those who are spiritually strong do not try to avoid difficulties, but find meaning in their struggles, learn from them, bounce back, and grow. Such souls are also able to build connections and unity, thanks to their cooperative and empathic nature. Many people confuse empathy and kindness with weakness. But spiritual strength includes the courage to forgive when it is easier to hate, and the discipline to stay true to one’s values, even when it is lonely. Only deep spiritual power enables us to let go of being right when it is more important to preserve harmony, and to walk away with grace when needed. This is not weakness — it is mastery.

How does one become spiritually strong?

It starts with knowing the self deeply — our fears, desires, shadows, and potential. Spiritual knowledge takes us a step further. It tells us that we are souls — incorporeal, immortal points of energy, the source of life and consciousness in human beings. Meditation is the practice by which we convert this piece of information into an experience, by accepting it and dwelling on it. When I experience myself as a soul, a deep and stable feeling of peace arises within me, because peace is the soul’s natural state, its innate quality – it is not something to be acquired from outside.

Once I am soul conscious, I have created the base to communicate with God, the Supreme Soul. God, the Father of all souls, is also a point of energy, but He is an ocean of pure love, peace, and power. When I immerse myself in God’s love, I am filled with His virtues and power, which gradually remove the defects in the soul that had caused suffering in the past. This process of purification ultimately frees the soul from the influence of weaknesses. I, the soul, become stable in my purity and peace. Nothing can give me sorrow. Rather, I become a source of strength and hope for others.
