“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” 

This famous verse from the Bible refers to the power of the gathering to invoke the spirit of God. If the simple act of remembering the Divine invokes the Great Presence, imagine the power of the Khumb, as millions gather to turn their minds and hearts to the Highest One. 

Although the footprints of billions have worn the land down to her lowest state, the spirituality of India is embedded in the soil, in the rivers, in the air and in every aspect of living. The Kumbh celebrates the eternal Bharat and Her diversity of race, language and belief systems joining together as a confluence, at the sacred site where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet. Bharat continues to keep the flame of spirituality alive for the world to see and feel. Even from a distance, the vibration of spirituality is felt then carried across the world by the Indian diaspora. 

I, like many, have taken rebirth in countries far from the motherland of Bharat. Although skin colour, language and culture have changed, we share a deep love for Bharat, as a beacon of spirituality for the world. Here in the west, we do not consider daily activities as rituals, in fact rituals have been largely lost to us. India offers a glimpse of living where the sacred is woven into every aspect of life. We, in the foreign lands, will feel the power of the Kumbh from here, where our shared purpose is to shine the light of spirituality brightly, to unite the islands of humanity that have disconnected from their inner light. From Bharat the vibration of spirituality and the Divine will span the globe.

Although the Kumbh will last for several weeks, the pilgrims will find renewal of purpose and deeper connection to the Divine. Time touches us lightly when we are in connection with the Divine. Our bodies and minds experience refreshment and a deeper commitment to live a Godly life. 

We, in the foreign lands, join all of you in spirit as you walk, pray and meet together in remembrance of God. We join you as you celebrate the Divine Light. May this most sacred festival bring us together to dissolve the roots of hatred and violence that erupt in the hearts and minds of humanity when we become disconnected from our inner light and from God’s powerful love.
