This was an in-person event where over 100 medical students and professors from the University had gathered. Sister Payal in addressing the gathering spoke about lighting the lamp of the soul to eradicate the darkness of the vices and body consciousness. Her speech was very much appreciated and touched the hearts of those gathered. Several attendees have shown interest in meditation after listening to Sr Payal.&nbsp;While it is rooted in Indian culture and traditions, the Diwali celebration outside India is equally vibrant and colourful. Indian communities worldwide bring their customs to life, lighting up their homes and places of work.&nbsp;The celebration brought people of all backgrounds together to enjoy the spirit of unity, love, and prosperity. The event was a celebration of music, dance, special messages and enlightening conversations and a mesmerizing performance by students.&nbsp;

Celebrating UN week in Antigua and BarbudaThursday 24 October - On this day, the UN System across the Caribbean in celebrating United Nations (UN) Day, being observed globally on October 24, under the theme ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ (SDG8) and ‘Partnerships for the goals’ (SDG 17) and will lead activities in celebration of the 79th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations.UN Day offers the opportunity to amplify our common agenda and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.un.org/en/common-agenda">UN Charter</a> that have guided us for the past 79 years. Many of this year's events are geared towards staff and partners.During UN week, several public events were staged as part of ongoing efforts to build awareness and accelerate the&nbsp;implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in-country.Director of the Brahma Kumaris in Antigua B.K. Payal was invited by the UN National Co Ordinator Ms Andrea Andrew to participate in a series of activities.· &nbsp; &nbsp; On Thursday 24th October she attended the flag hoisting event at the Prime Minister’s Office in the presence of diplomats as a symbol of hope and mutual commitment to multilateralism· &nbsp; &nbsp; On Friday 25th Sister Payal participated in the clean and healthy environment exercise and· &nbsp; &nbsp; On Saturday 26th October she along with Minister of the environment Hon Chet Greene, UN Director Ms Andrea and staff members, dignitaries and residents, participated in the Advocacy Walk for Peace to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for two hours on the island of Antigua.Several visits are being planned to schools, as well as to MSMEs to highlight how the UN is supporting efforts to leave no one behind in Antigua. An SDG-themed debate is also being planned, among other activities to observe this UN milestone.UN Day has been celebrated since 1948 and marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945. This year’s theme is an important one for Antigua and Barbuda, as it reminds us&nbsp;that full productive employment and decent work for all are indicative of inclusive and sustained economic growth. He shared his rich experiences in his spiritual journey which inspired everyone. After that we had a Q &amp; A session.&nbsp;All Board of Directors on the Island were also present.
